Huge amount of power is lost while transferring power for domestic requirements over open copper, aluminum metallic wires.
If we are able to store power in solid state devices at substations and transfer the same via fibre channel , we may be able to save a lot of energy.
The end devices may have to be modified to work with low voltages.
Threat of electrical shock also can be avoided.
